City Credit Union's Commitment to Jackson County

Community is built by the people that live and work in it. City Credit Union is a partner in the community of Jackson County as a business and employer but also as a supporter of financial success through a variety of approaches. We help lay the foundation for the next generation with our financial literacy programs in schools throughout Jackson County and charitable fundraising that help both here at home and nationally through several reputable charity organizations.

Financial Wellness in the Schools

Financial literacy is not just making a budget. In today’s world, financial literacy encompasses not only the basics of budgeting but understanding steps that help build a credit history, revolving credit, and the technology that goes along with it. Understanding these complexities and how they weave together to create a successful future is a vital tool for our future adults. This is why City Credit Union and our C-Cu Works team partner with the financial literacy and education program Banzai!

C-Cu Works sponsors the Banzai! Financial literacy program for several schools in the Jackson County area, starting with middle school, to provide hands-on and real-world financial literacy using activities and teaching programs such as Banzai! Teen from creating a budget to the cost/benefit analysis of things such as whether to repair an existing vehicle or if it might be more prudent to replace it as a long-term solution.

At the high school level, not only do we sponsor Banzai! Teen, but we also sponsor programs discussing in-depth banking, savings, and college financial considerations. Further, teens can take our Banzai! Plus program, an advanced program that combines these lessons with longer-term goals and how to achieve them.

These are the schools we sponsor for Banzai:

William Chrisman High School

Blue Springs South High School

Oak Grove High School

Timothy Lutheran School

Bingham Middle School

Blue Springs High School

Blue Springs High School Freshman Center

What Teachers Say:

Thank you so much for sponsoring this program. I have used this curriculum with my Career Prep students as we discuss different aspects of life after high school. I appreciate your support! Sincerely, Nicole Holmes

What a wonderful program! It is perfect for my students.

Thank you so much for the Banzai Financial booklets you purchased for my class. I am using it to teach students in Grades 5-8 to budget and use their money wisely. The booklets are very informative and interesting.

That’s why we contribute to the Independence Police Foundation or IPF. The Independence Police Foundation is dedicated to enhancing public safety initiatives and outreach opportunities. It has a positive impact on the community while also supporting local law enforcement and building bridges between the two.

Wounded Warriors

For those who dedicate their time and life in service to our country, returning to civilian society and family life is a huge adjustment. It’s an even larger adjustment for those traumatized and injured during service. The Wounded Warrior Project is one of the most successful charity organizations that seeks to support returning veterans with comprehensive assistance programs for their physical and mental well-being, employment options and training, and ways to engage with their community through volunteer work, peer counseling, and more.
